I’m Eric, “Trunks” to some of my friends, and I’m here for the dice, the jokes, and the late-night “one more game” moments that always go longer than planned. I’m a longtime fan of Japan, tabletop games, and video games.
I spend a lot of time bouncing between worlds: rolling dice at the table, diving into action-adventure games on a screen, and thinking about how systems and rules shape the way we play. I tend to gravitate toward the behind-the-scenes side of things—planning, organizing, and making sure everything is ready to go.
When I’m not gaming, I’m usually cooking, tinkering with ideas, or spending time with my wife Amanda and our kids, Alex and Raelie.
What character class do you always end up playing?
Rogue, every time. My first real character, Rayne, was a 4E rogue who became a devout follower of the Raven Queen. Yes, this was pre-Vax. I’m still waiting on my royalty check from Liam O’Brien.
If you were an NPC in someone’s campaign, what quest would you give adventurers?
Something food related, I’m sure.
“Heroes, I require a burger worthy of the gods. Travel to the sacred halls of Red Robin and return with the fabled Lava Queso Burger.”
What’s your go-to snack or drink for game night?
Snack: always crunchy and salty: chips or popcorn.
Drink: sake if I’m not driving, Mountain Dew if I am.
Which fictional world would you move into?
Hard call. Some worlds I love would be terrible to live in. Imagine Goku’s Earth. The planet explodes every few months. Probably post–Lord of the Rings Middle-earth, or the Forgotten Realms (because at least I could study magic).
Why do you love tabletop games?
It’s all about time with friends and family. I can only think of one bad game night. Hellapagos. I won’t name names, but they know who they are. ::glare::
What do you bring to the Tabletop Tether “party”?
I’m the wizard with big dreams but a dump stat in Charisma. Give me a spreadsheet and some rules and I’m happy. Since this world runs on Charisma, I’ve had to force myself out of my shell to help kick this thing off.
